Hi Lunch Money team,
Thank you for building such a great tool. I really enjoy how flexible and intuitive the budgeting system is.
One feature that would make budgeting even more powerful is the ability to set different budgeting periods for different categories.
For example:
My “Groceries” budget works best on a weekly cycle.
My “Rent” and “Utilities” are on a monthly cycle.
Subscriptions might be annual, but I’d like to spread them across months.
Currently, the budgeting period is set globally. To simulate different cadences, I rely on rollovers and manual adjustments. While this works, it can get messy for categories where the natural rhythm of spending doesn’t match the global budget period.
Having the option to define budgeting periods at the category (or category group) level would:
Better reflect real-world cash flow
Reduce manual adjustments and rollovers
Improve the accuracy of reports and insights
Even partial support, such as the ability to pick between “weekly,” “bi-weekly,” “monthly,” or “annual” per category, would be very helpful.
